The Lord's Mercy

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.

23 They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness.

I was memorizing this verse and all of a sudden this tune started to go through my head and thus a new song was written.

There is none so faithful as our Heavenly Father.  There is none so merciful, full of grace, slow to anger, full of compassion towards us.

Thank you. Lord, for Your unending mercy!

The Lord’s Mercy

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed.
Because Thy compassions fail not, we are not consumed.
For Thy mercies are new every morning,
And because Thy compassions they fail not,
Great is Thy faithfulness. Great is Thy faithfulness.

For Thy mercy is great, O Lord, unto the heavens.
And Thy truth and Thy great faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
For Thy mercy is everlasting,
Upon them that fear Thy most Holy name.
Thou art most merciful. Thou art most merciful.

For Thou, O Lord, are full of grace and slow to wrath.
And plenteous in Thy mercy, O Lord most High.
For Thou has redeemed man from eternal death,
And Thou hast prepared for him a home on high.
Great is Thy mercy. Great is Thy mercy.

Wondrous Love

I John 1:3a
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God…

In our finite minds, it is so hard to comprehend all that God has done for us and why He did what He
did.  His love is unfathomable – who can explain it?

Jesus suffered so much for us – should we be willing to do anything less?

Wondrous Love

I cannot begin to understand,
The wondrous love that God had shown to man.
He sent His Son, His only Son,
Who paid the price, the vict’ry won,
And now He sits upon His throne,
Until He comes to call me home.
What a glor’ous day that will be,
When my Savior comes, when He comes for me.

I cannot begin to understand,
The love my Savior showed when He became man.
He left His home, His Heav’nly home,
And as a babe to earth did come.
And as He grew into a man,
He told of God’s redemption plan.
To all who would accept His love,
A Heavenly home, Heav’nly home above.

I cannot begin to reason why,
God’s only Son had to come to earth to die.
Bleeding, dying in agony,
There on the Cross of Calvary.
Not just my sins that He did bear,
Forsaken by God, hanging there.
Showing as He died on that tree,
Just how much He loves, how much He loves me.

I cannot begin to understand,
That this was all part of God’s salvation plan.
It is finished was what He cried,
As there upon the cross He died.
And as He conquered sin and death,
He rose again victorious.
Waiting on high His church to bring,
Our eternal King, our eternal King!

If I Could Just Touch the Hem of His Garment

Matthew 9:20-21

20And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind Him, and touched the hem of His garment: 21For she said within herself, If I may but touch His garment, I shall be whole.

I get a lot of song ideas when in church.  Our pastor preached through Matthew and when he taught on this passage, this song came to me.

(On a side note, I get a lot of words and tunes worked on while scooping cat boxes – what does that tell you?)

What faith this woman had.  She was sick for 12 years, spent her time and money searching for someone to heal her.  Yet the only healing found was though our Lord, Jesus Christ.  And she but had to touch the hem of His garment to be made whole.

Lord, give us faith.

If I Could Just Touch the Hem of His Garment

If I could just touch the hem of His garment,
I would be made perfectly whole.
If I could just get up close to the Master,
What wondrous joy would flood my soul!
What wondrous joy would flood my soul!

Too many years I spent searching for healing,
Spending all of my wealth.
But no help could be found for my affliction.
There was none to restore my health.
There was none to restore my health.

But then there came word of a Great Master,
Who healed with just one touch.
I just had to get close to this Healer
To get well would mean so much.
To get well would mean so much.

Then the Master drew near with a great crowd.
I just had to find my way through.
If I could get to the side of this Jesus,
Then healing would my strength renew.
Then healing would my strength renew.

And I just did get up close to the Master,
And now I am perfectly whole.
And I did just touch the hem of His garment;
What wondrous joy now floods my soul!
What wondrous joy now floods my soul!

But then the Master asked who had touched Him.
Those close by asked why in the throng.
He said He felt power go out of Him.
He knew what I’d done all along.
He knew what I’d done all along.

In fear and trembling I fell down at His feet.
I told Him all in my soul.
He said to me to be of good comfort.
Because your faith has made you whole.
Because your faith has made you whole.

Thank You, Lord

Thessalonians 5:18
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

We have so much to be thankful for, but it is altogether too easy to take for granted all God’s many blessings.  Instead, we take them for granted and start whining and complaining when life gets “tough”, when things don’t go our way.

When life is going well, it is easy to say “thank You, Lord”, but when circumstances change, when we feel “hurt” or “wronged”, when we get sick, get passed over for that promotion at work, the kids are griping, we are exhausted and our to do list is two miles long, where is our thanks?  That is usually the farthest thing from our mind.  Instead it is “why me????”

So I challenge you and encourage you to give thanks in all things.  God knows what we can handle and never allows more than we can bear.

This is another song that started from a church service.

Thank You, Lord

Thank You, Lord, for Your gift of love.
Thank You, Lord, sent down from above.
Thank You, Lord, for the victory won.
Thank You, Lord, God’s only Son.

Thank You, Lord, for each brand new day,
A chance to serve You, to grow, to pray.
For Your bountiful provision,
For Your beautiful creation.

For being our Master and our Lord,
For the gift of Your Holy Word,
For each trial that helps us grow,
And for Your mercy the world to show.

For Your death on Calvary,
Bleeding, dying in agony,
Giving Your life to set us free,
So we’ll be with You eternally.

For Your power that transforms us,
Over sin to be victorious,
All our dark passions to subdue,
For all of this we do thank You.
We thank You, Lord.
