A New King Is Born Today

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder:   and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

A stable, a manger filled with hay – not the normal birthplace of a king.  Yet this is where the King of all Kings was born.  A tiny babe Who would bear the sins of the world and give His life for all mankind.  The greatest Christmas gift ever!

A New King Is Born Today

Ring the bells!  Spread glad tidings!
A new king is born today.
With no room in the inn,
In a lowly manger He lay.

Yet His birth was heralded by angels,
Some shepherds proclaimed,
Wise men came to His abode,
Where a star’s bright light was aimed.

Was there ever a royal birth,
So unknown, so humble,
Yet filled with so much joy,
So much hope, and so wonderful?

Our new King is born!

The Grace of God

Titus 2:11-13
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ;

When we were young, my parents enrolled us in Bible Memory Association’s scripture memorization program.  My sister Carol and I would make up little tunes to help us remember our verses.

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to recall song lyrics that you haven’t heard in years or all the little commercial jingles?  King David set his Psalms to music.  I enjoy writing music for scripture.

I was memorizing the above verses and a tune starting forming in my head.  It made it much easier to remember the verse.

The Grace of God

The grace of God that bringeth salvation
Has appeared, has appeared
The grace of God that bringeth salvation
Has appeared to all men.

Teaching us how we should live each day for Him,
In this present world
Denying ungodliness and worldly lusts,
In this present world.

We should live soberly every day
All for Him, all for Him.
Living righteously, and Godly, too
That is what we will do.

Looking for that blessed hope and the
Glorious appearing
of the great God and our
Savior Jesus Christ.

 Refrain:
So let us live for our dear Savior,
Feed on His Word, and trust Him as Lord.
So let us live for our dear Savior,
Live every day all for Him.

Lift Up Your Hands

Psalm 150:6
Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

How many of your prayers are filled with “Lord, give me this and Lord, give me that”?  Too often our prayers are requests mostly for us for what we think we need or want.  But as Psalm 150:6 says – we are to praise the Lord.

What do we praise Him for?  Just for being God - a mighty being Who desires our love though we are sinful, fallen creatures.

For what He has done, for all we are blessed with - His beautiful creation, the gift of His Son to give us eternal life in a home on high, our family, our health, God’s Holy Word.  The list goes on and on.

Praise ye the Lord!

Lift Up Your Hands

Lift up your hands, lift your hands to the King of Kings.
O raise your voice, raise your voice His praises sing.
Lift up your hands, lift your hands to the King.
O raise your voice, raise your voice, His praises sing.

For He is Lord, Lord of the heavens and the earth.
All creation, creation shouts forth His praise.
Our mighty God, mighty God all powerful,
We will proclaim Your name all of our days.

Live up your eyes, lift your eyes to the heavens on high.
Our precious Lord, precious Lord awaits your prayers.
Spend much time in solitude with Him alone.
His Word shows us just how much He really cares.

Open your heart, let Him in, our conquering King.
Our risen King, risen King from death took the sting.
Accept Him now, to the cross all your sins bring.
Lift up your hands, lift your hands up to your King!

To You Most Worthy

II Thessalonians 1:12
That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Do you know what your purpose in life is?  Do you know why you are here? Some people might answer, I want to be a great humanitarian and help a lot of people; another might say I want to be the best doctor or lawyer or be the next president.

Growing up, all I wanted to be was a great mom.  But none of these reasons really are why we are here.  Our purpose in life is to bring glory to God.  Everything we do and say is to honor Him.

Have you done that today?

To You Most Worthy

O my Lord Jesus,
May You be glorified in me.
May my whole life
Reflect Your Glory.
In all that I do and all that I say,
Bring honor and praise to You most worthy.

O my Lord Jesus,
You left Your Heav’nly home above,
To walk upon the earth,
To show us Your great love.
And all that You did and all that You said
Brought honor and praise to the most Holy.

O my Lord Jesus,
No sin was ever found in You.
Blameless Lamb of God,
You came God’s will to do.
Hung up on a cross, there You gave Your life,
And my sins You bore to win the victory.

May I delight, O Lord,
To do Your will every day,
And glorify You,
And all Your Word obey.
My heart’s desire is not my will but Thine,
To give You my life, love You more perfectly.

Take My Heart

Matthew 22:37
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

What does it mean to for Jesus to be Lord of our lives?  It is easy to pray a simple prayer of salvation, but not so easy to yield our all to our Lord.  Every thought, action, spoken word – all to His glory – He is the master of all of us – not just the parts we yield to Him.

Only those who know Jesus as Lord and Savior will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.  I ask that you take a few minutes to reflect on whether or not Jesus is your Lord.  Have you given your all to Him?

Take My Heart

Take my heart, O Lord, I give it now to You.
Take my life, O Lord, for it belongs to You.
Take my heart, O Lord, and keep it ever true.
Take my life, O Lord, help me live for You.

Not My will but Thine be done, O God, in Me,
Was the Savior’s cry when facing Calvary.
Not My will but Thine did nail Him to the tree.
Where He gave His life, covering sin’s penalty.

Take my heart’s desire, I count it all but loss.
All my hopes and dreams, I lay them at the Cross.
As You did God’s work, took the place for the lost,
Bearing all God’s wrath, and You paid the final cost.

Not my will but Thine, shall ever be my plea.
As You gave Your life, I lay mine down for Thee.
Give me strength anew, to conquer sin in me.
Help me live each day, alone, Lord, all for Thee.
