The King of Glory

1 Corinthians 15:3, 4  (KJV)
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

I wanted to write a song that told the story of Jesus’ life (kind of like the gospel in a nutshell).  I entitled it The King of Glory to emphasize all that He did/will do for us – He is our King!

Ps. 24:8-10 Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle. 9Lift up your heads, O gates, And lift them up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! 10Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory.

The song starts with the chorus to briefly summarize what Jesus did for us, and then repeats after every verse.

The King of Glory

Chorus
From the lowly manger in Bethlehem
To the cross of Calvary
To the right hand of the Father
He’s the King of glory.

Leaving the glories of Heaven,
To earth He humbly came
Born of the Virgin Mary,
The Savior was His name.

Bearing His cross to Calvary
For our sins He took the blame
Submitting to the Father’s will,
Lost sinners to reclaim.

Bleeding, bruised, and dying,
On the cross He bore our shame
The grave and death could not hold Him
O praise His Holy Name.

His work on earth now finished
To His Heav’nly home He came
Waiting in glorious splendor
His Holy bride to claim.
